Today marks the first day that I am not buttoning my jeans. I can indeed still button them, but they’re very tight. So I am now using a BellyButtonBand (I used code 3f64b2 at their site to get $40 off!). I don’t really have much of a bump yet, as a matter of fact I feel more chubby than pregnant, but in honor of not being able to button my jeans any more I decided to start taking photos. So here is the first one:
How far along: 9 weeks 2 days! I know most people wait until after 12 weeks to share their baby news… but what can I say… I’m a sharer! I totally can’t keep news like this to myself 🙂
Baby is the size of: a wild strawberry (1 inch long)
Movement: Baby B is likely moving, but is still too small for me to feel him/her
I’m feeling: Other than tired, I’m not really having any major pregnancy symptoms. I had been taking 3 hour naps each day, but today is the first day in a long time that I haven’t needed one, even after working out. I am getting short of breath easier as well as feeling dizzy due to my lowering blood pressure. It’s interesting all the changes that happen so quickly! Last time the midwife took my blood pressure it was like 100/60 or something crazy… normally it’s 120/67.
Exercise: I have switched from running 3 miles a few times a week to walking 3 miles a few times a week, and instead of doing 12-15 minutes of steady HIIT training or 45 minutes of strength training a few times a week I’ve slowed it down to smaller bursts of HIIT. I’ll do about 3 minutes of HIIT then rest and repeat 3-4 times depending on how I’m feeling.
Sleep: I’m so thankful for our new Sleep Number bed! I’ve been sleeping on my side more often (not really sure why) but being able to adjust the firmness has really helped to keep my back pain at a minimum.
What I’m reading: I’m currently reading Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and it is incredibly eye opening! The female body is so completely capable and amazingly adapted to the task of bringing life into the world that it’s incredible the amount of medical intervention that occurs in pregnancies that are unremarkable and ordinary.
Baby preparations: I have also been reading a book called Baby Bargains that is released each year and reviews the products that are worth the money and those that are not… so I have started our baby registry. Shopping for a little human is so fun! I’ve decided on an owl theme for the nursery. Since we don’t know the sex of the baby yet it will work either way… plus, since we are planning on eventually having another baby, we can reuse the set for baby #2.
Other exciting things: I haven’t yet been able to hear Baby B’s heartbeat, but I was able to see it during my ultrasound. Also, I will be going in for a blood test in a few weeks to find out the gender of the baby…. we should know by about 12 weeks is Baby B is a he or a she!
